Back by popular demand, Scott Suzuki returns with another free 1-hour informational session. He will focus on the following topics, all based on questions he received from patrons during his previous program “Get Your Family Legal Affairs Organized.”
- Avoiding guardianships/conservatorships with powers of attorneys and health care directives
- Making sure your estate goes to the right people, pets, or places
- Planning to reduce bills for taxes, long-term care, and attorneys
- Helping your loved ones help you
Mr. Suzuki is a volunteer attorney with the University of Hawaii Elder Law Program (UHELP) and assists senior and disabled clients with a wide range of legal concerns.
AARP Tax-Aide: Free Help for Basic 2008 Tax Return
Free help in preparing basic federal and state income tax returns is being offered again this year, with trained volunteers available to help those who cannot prepare their own tax returns, have low to moderate income, are disabled, have limited English skills, or are elderly.

Items you must bring: photo ID; Social Security card (also for spouses and dependents, if applicable); current year’s federal and state tax form packets, if received; wage/earnings and interest/dividend statements; copy of last year’s income tax returns; and other relevant information regarding income and expenses.

Janet Jin is an instructor of Arthritis Foundation Taichi Class at the Chinese Cultural Plaza, the Dong Taichi school. She has also taught at Tokai University, Lady of the Mount Church, the Honolulu Club, and the Punahou Spa Fitness.
Kid’s Craft: Mini-books

Eco-crafter Evelyn Nakamura will demonstrate how to create two different kinds of mini-books for kids using scrap paper and cardstock. Get Your Fix for Cowboy Fever – A Talk by Writer Lynde Lakes

Lynde Lakes, author of romantic suspense, paranormal suspense, mainstream, and non-fiction invites you to join her for her talk on writing about raw edged men who punch cattle for a living. Her talk will cover the plus and minuses of writing Westerns, and offer practical hints on how to survive the bumpy road to publication. As an added bonus, she’ll share an excerpt from the first book in her Ryan Ranch Trilogy, COWBOY LIES, a romantic intrigue where amnesia, baby trafficking and the FBI mesh into a terrifying web of deception.
The talk will be of interest for adult readers and writers of the cowboy genre or writers in general and is intended to educate and entertain.
